Implementing the Paris Agreement on Climate

The Paris Agreement on climate change lays out commmitments for nations to limit their greenhouse-gas emissions and contain the impact of global warming. Mayors were among the loudest voices lobbying in favour of the agreement, which entered into force in November 2016. And cities will have an enormous role in its implementation: They are both the source of 70 percent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions and also where the most innovative low-carbon solutions are being implemented.

Local authorities are increasingly pressuring car manufacturers by wielding major regulatory and purchasing power.
