Join a conversation about the “urban SDG” on

When the UN convenes later this month, consideration of a new set of “sustainable development goals” for the world will be high on the agenda. Urban experts will be particularly focused on Goal Number 11 — a pledge for the world’s countries to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”

The conversation has already begun over at Throughout September, the site’s community managers in 23 cities across the Global South are exploring the potential impact of an urban-focused goal. They’ll be looking at policy-level solutions and examining institutional strutures, capacities, laws, plans and programs. Commentaries so far from São Paulo, Lagos and Mumbai show what a wide-ranging impact the goal could have if it makes it through to final adoption by the UN General Assembly next year.
