Curtis Johnson is also the longtime president of the Citistates Group, which made the point 20 years ago that regions were the action arenas that matter in today’s world. He also coordinates the work of Education Evolving, a national design shop for education policy. In the 1990s he was a policy adviser and chief of staff to a Minnesota governor, then chairman of the Metropolitan Council, one of America’s only two regional governments. He is a co-author of Century of the City and the 2008 book Disrupting Class. As an analyst and author he also co-authored with Neal Peirce two books about American regions and more than a hundred feature articles in more than 50 newspapers in 26 American regions.
